This document provides the AWS base metal grouping for welding procedure and performance qualification and is identical to the base metal grouping annex found in the latest version of AWS B2.1/B2.1M. Print copies are available for purchase at pubs.aws.org
For everyone involved in any phase of welding steel structures---engineers, detailers, fabricators, erectors, inspectors, etc. - the new D1.1 spells out the requirements for design, procedures, qualifications, fabrication, inspection and repair of steel structures made of tubes, plate and structural shapes that are subject to either static or cyclic loading.
Download WeldOffice WPS 14.01.6 from our software library for free. This PC program can be installed on 32-bit versions of Windows XP/7/8/10/11. The default filename for the program's installer is wps.exe. Our antivirus analysis shows that this download is virus free. WeldOffice WPS relates to System Utilities. The latest setup file that can be downloaded is 36.1 MB in size. The actual developer of the software is WeldOffice. The most popular versions of the software 14.0, 9.1 and 1.0.
Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) creation and management is simple, fast and accurate with automatic code checking and links to code related software modules. Only C-spec's WeldsOffice offers code compliance and code rules verification supported by active code committee members. Your welding procedure will be instantly recognized as a code compliant industry standard.
1.4 Do you have a large number of PQR's with WPS for SMAW process for AWS D1.1 code? Does this software allow me to write my own approved WPS and PQR's? Once the WPS is written, do I need to perform a weld test and send test samples to the lab for inspection and analyzing of weld soundness in according to welding code?
1.10 In regards to user access, can a user be limited to only view documents of the company's account? If we sign up with two user accounts, I would like to have User Account #1 be our welding process administrator to create new documents with full access to the software. User Account #2 would be our supervisors/floor welders. I would like them to NOT have full access to the software, but to print/view existing documents online. Is there some type of administrative security that one user could restrict access to other users, like read only feature?
2.11 Can I adapt your forms for AWS codes that are not listed on your Product information on your site (i.e. AWS D14.1, AWS D14.3, AWS D1.4 and AWS D1.8)? Can I work with the software to create form for unlisted welding code? Are you planning on adding API 1104 certification forms in the future?

Software for engineers and managers who track and manage welding procedures to ASME IX, EN 288/EN 156xx and AWS D1.1Weldspec facilitates the easy creation of welding procedures compliant with the latest codes and rules from ASME IX, EN 288/EN 156xx and AWS D1.1. Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) can be automatically created from Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) in a code compliant manner at the click of a button. Forms are dynamically created to match the welding code and welding processes in question so only the relevant variables are presented. Weldspec will even optionally highlight potential deviations from code rules so you can be confident in the quality of your procedures.
The industry standard welding documentation software with code intelligence built in for ASME, EN and AWS welding codes. Use TWI's software to manage your welding procedures (WPS, PQR), welder qualifications (WPQ), NDT/NDE Reports and production welding information by creating professional weldmaps in your company's style. Full range of Welding Software.
All work must be carried out in strict accordance with any drawings or specifications issued by the company. Marked-up drawings (eg. weld maps) detailing all welded joint locations and weld identification numbers shall be provided by the contractor with corresponding weld traceability records on all welding work.
Visual, NDE / NDT, destructive, or specialist inspectors shall meet the qualification and experience requirements as required by the applicable welding standard or specification, or as agreed by the Welding Coordinator.
Simufact Welding is a modular product line, which offers comprehensive functionality for modeling elastic-plastic behavior of materials and structural welding simulation. The software covers different welding processes.
Simufact Welding is a modular software, subdivided into application modules providing welding process-specific functionality and additional modules providing material data and parallelization technology boosting simulation performance.
Welding procedure specifications (WPS) allow welders to consistently produce welds that meet desired requirements without any rework. However, the nature and use of a WPS, and its supporting procedure qualification record (PQR), are commonly misunderstood. This online course provides a comprehensive overview of these documents in an engaging and easy-to-understand multimedia format.
Topics include: the format and function of a WPS and a PQR; the different types of WPSs; essential and nonessential variables for arc welding, oxyfuel welding , resistance welding and brazing procedure specifications; the procedure qualification process; the information included on a PQR; and common nondestructive and destructive tests.
Welding-procedures specifications typically include the following information:Procedure number,Reference to the specific engineering drawing and to the detailed operation covered,Standard designation and condition of materials, thickness,Sketch describing form of joint with dimensions and tolerances,Need for preheating or post weld heat treatment,Welding jigs and fixtures, tooling, welding position, positioners or special holders,Special techniques to minimize distortion,Joint fit-up, backing if required,Number, position and size of tack welds, Welding process, specific welding equipment or type,Welding consumables type and size, baking if needed,Voltage, Current [AC, DC (polarity) or pulsed (time and curr. levels)],Electrode extension (stick-out), torch to workpiece distance, arc length,Weld speed,Cleaning procedures,Inspector approval of weld preparation if needed,Welding sequence, number of passes and their order,Welding technique details (weaving) if needed,Possible back gauging, inter-pass cleaning and grinding stages, Interpass temperature if control is to be used,Maximum heat input allowed.
Welding-procedures specifications presented in this page, prescribe the exact steps in sequence necessary to perform the job successfully. Any additional undefined information, like techniques explained in Recommended Practice documents (see further down), could also be specified there.
A coordinated activity originated by a common initiative of the Welding Research Council (WRC) and the American Welding Society (AWS) has resulted in the publication of a number of prequalified welding procedures, that can be adopted by industry:ANSI/AWS Standard Welding Procedure Specifications (SWPSs) are intended to meet the rules of the major codes. Single documents differ in processes, base metal and thickness range.
Welding Techniques involve details of a welding operation which are controlled by the welder or welding operator within the limitations imposed by Welding-procedures. Optionally Welding-procedures may include specific welding techniques.
Tip!: The best welding procedure cannot help a sloppy or inadequate welder to produce successful work, so that there will always be a request and a need for competent and excellent welders.
